5 Awesome FREE Online Content Marketing Tools

Digital Tools

There's no shortage of paid tools available for content marketers to use in their day-to-day work. The problem is, not everyone's budget can justify spending hundreds or even thousands of dollars to maintain them.

Thankfully, there are a number of free tools out there as well. Sure, their scope and quality may not be as great as the paid ones, but they have gotten the job done for me.

Here are five great, free tools to use for your content:

Lumen5

Video is the future of marketing. If you don't have video editing training or an expensive piece of software, don't fret. Lumen5 lets you make short, simple videos with your own captions, images, and background music.

You can either upload your own images, music and video or pick from their library of thousands of files. Then, you simply stitch the images and captions together in a basic editor tool. You can even add zooming effects and timing. The end result is something great you can share on social media.

Did I mention you can input a URL to a blog post and Lumen5 will turn it into a video automatically? It doesn't always work perfectly, but it can be a great starting point. There's a paid, premium version too, but you don't need that necessarily.

Pixlr

Pixlr is a free photo editor that offers many features of Adobe Photoshop without the steep price tag. You can add transparency, use a lasso tool, combine images, and do other cool editing tricks. You can use your edited images on social media and your website.

Pixabay

Every content creator has struggled with finding free-use images for their blogs and websites. Pixabay is the best solution I have found. Its vast library of free stock images is sure to meet your content goals.

Canva

Canva is another free image creation program with some premium options. It's especially great for social media because it provides perfectly sized templates on which to create visuals, depending on the social network. Once you finish your design, it's guaranteed to render perfectly on its respective social media platform, be it Twitter, Facebook or Instagram.

Hootsuite

For content marketers who are also heavily involved in social media, a scheduling assistant like Hootsuite is a must. It allows you to schedule posts to multiple social media platforms in one place, eliminating the need to sign into multiple accounts. It also makes it easier to follow specific streams of content for reposting ideas.
